Exciting news - the Town of Chebeague Island is undertaking two traffic and pedestrian pilot program studies! See the flyer below along with the two blurbs to hear more about the projects.
Under a no-cost technical assistance opportunity with the Bike Coalition of Maine, the Town of Chebeague Island is undertaking a pilot project to promote pedestrian safety and traffic calming measures to address vehicle speeds and improve safety at the North and Cottage Rd intersection close to The Hook. This is a temporary demonstration project to better understand steps that the Town can take to promote the best use of our roads from a multi-modal perspective that centers safety for both pedestrians and drivers alike. The project is intended to serve as a temporary pilot to help the Town assess the effectiveness of traffic calming measures before considering any kind of permanent roadway modification. The demonstration project offers a unique opportunity to gather observations, evaluate impacts, and receive community feedback. The installation will include modular speedbumps and flex post delineators, which will be put into place on July 27th. The Town looks forward to hearing community perspectives on how this project can support usage of the road for all users.
